Because it cannot be regenerated enough, it usually results in difficulty concentrating and forgetting. Usually, if we do not sleep well, we tend to make mistakes in sentence structure and forget the words.

As we sleep, our body releases satiety hormones, such as leptin. If this did not happen, we would probably wake up hungry at night. Namely, night is the longest phase of the day when we can do without food. When we are not sleeping, our body does not release these saturating substances, but instead produces more "appetite hormones", such as ghrelin. As a result, we are hungrier.

Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain and thus increase the risk of obesity which is dangerous to health.

The skin ages faster

When we lack sleep, our body releases stress hormones, such as cortisol. This affects the structure of the skin, which becomes thinner, loses elasticity and dries leading to premature aging and the formation of wrinkles.

The risk of disease increases

If we do not get enough sleep, the risk of various diseases increases. When we lack sleep, our heart rate rises and our body temperature drops. It weakens our immune system. Among other things, it increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis, heart attack or stroke. This is shown by a meta-analysis of various studies.

Other possible negative health consequences include high blood pressure and slowing down the breakdown of blood sugar. This increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. Poor sleep is not only harmful to the body, but also increases the risk of mental illnesses, such as depression.
