Lajcak: Kosovo-Serbia dialogue meetings should produce positive results

2 min read

EU Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak met tonight with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, with whom he talked about continuing the dialogue in Brussels, but did not give a concrete date when the next meeting could take place, saying he wants that the Kosovo-Serbia meetings yield results.

The Slovak diplomat in a statement to the media said that preparations for the meeting between Kurti and Vucic are continuing, but that he wants a result from this meeting.

"It simply came to our notice then. It is not just about the meetings, but also the results. This week I have met Prime Minister Kurti twice and talked to President Vuiqiiq, but there have been no positive results from these meetings. "Our ambitions are different at the moment and it is not only about organizing the meeting, but also about an agreement and that is why we are working in this direction." said Lajçak.

Asked what he expects from the next Kurti-Vucic meetings, the Slovak diplomat said he did not want to speculate.

"The dialogue will continue because it is important and we have a good will. "We just have to make sure that the meeting will produce good results." said Lajçak.

He said that his visit to Kosovo is about full preparations for the next meeting in Brussels, but did not give an exact date when this could happen.

Today, Lajçak also met with President Vjosa Osmani, who conveyed the message to the Slovak diplomat that the dialogue should end with mutual recognition of Kosovo-Serbia.
