Diseases you risk getting in a public toilet

To avoid contact with any germs, it often happens that you hover over the toilet or using pieces of toilet paper to clean other people's mess.

In fact the chances of getting something, such as a sexually transmitted disease, from a public toilet are almost impossible. So says Dr. Preethi Daniel, reports the portal rtv21.tv

"To be affected by these diseases, germs must be transferred directly from the toilet seat to your genital tract, or through an open wound. "You are more likely to be struck by lightning than to get a sexually transmitted disease from a public toilet, so please do not worry," she said.

The only disease you risk getting from a public toilet is E-coli or Salmonella.
She warns that you may be at risk of being affected by a UTI if you do things like squat, hover or place the toilet roll.

Dr. Daniel's only advice on public toilet issues is to wash your hands.21Media
