Austin Butler's portrayal of music legend Elvis Presley in the upcoming biographical film "Elvis" is widely regarded as the defining role of the actor's career, however, in a new interview with GQ, Austin revealed that his filming experience was so so intense that he had to be hospitalized.
Filming for this film was supposed to start in March 2020, but due to Covid -19 it was postponed.
This means that Butler was immersed in his Elvis Presley character for almost three years, learning how to speak, sing and move like a musician, down to facial expressions.
"You can lose touch with who you really are. And I definitely had this when I finished Elvis - not knowing who I was. My body just started to close the day after I finished Elvis. "I woke up at four in the morning the next day with excruciating pain and was rushed to the hospital," said Austin.
Austin was then hospitalized and diagnosed with a virus that mimicked appendicitis.
