Finland is disconnected from the Russian power grid

Fingrid, the operator of Finland's national grid, has confirmed to Sky News that it has been disconnected from the Russian power grid, so no energy will be received from Russia.

Reima Paivinen, a senior vice president at Fingrid, said they were confident there would be no major problems, with enough power expected to be provided by Sweden.

Electricity from Russia accounts for about 10% of Finland's total consumption.

The cut is supposed to have happened because payments were not able to be processed.

This came after Finland confirmed that it would apply to join NATO.21Media
