Guns, the leading cause of death for American children

Gun deaths are now the leading cause of death for American children and teens, surpassing car accidents, according to research published in April.

In 2020, the last year for which full figures are available - 4 young Americans died from gunshot wounds.

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the overall death rate from guns of all kinds, including suicides, homicides and accidents, increased by 29.5%, twice that of the general population.
