Germany has recorded 100,000 deaths from Covid this week since the pandemic erupted.

Since the outbreak of the disease early last year, 100,119 people have died from the virus, according to the latest data from the Robert Koch Institute of Public Health.

There were 351 other deaths in the past 24 hours, while infections with Covid-19 increased by a record 75,961, rtv21.tv reports.

Since the start of the pandemic, Germany has registered more than 5.57 million cases.

Hospitals have warned that the number of beds in intensive care units is declining and in some countries, authorities have begun transferring patients to other regions.

Earlier this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Europe was again at the epicenter of the pandemic, as easing restrictions and unequal vaccination had brought the continent to a "critical juncture"./ 21Media
